Virtual Production Partners Options Groundbreaking AI-Generated Graphic Novel
Los Angeles, CA – Virtual Production Partners (VPP), a California-based virtual production company, announced today that it has optioned the rights to Zarya of the Dawn, a first of its kind graphic novel created using artificial intelligence. Written by Kristina Kashtanova, the novel tells the story of Zarya, a young woman who discovers herself as she navigates a changing world. Set against a backdrop of stunning sci-fi landscapes, the novel explores themes of empowerment, self-discovery, and the transformative power of human emotions.
Last week, the Copyright office affirmed Kashtanova’s copyright for the text and compilation as a whole, a landmark decision for creators using AI tools. Zarya of the Dawn has been translated into 25 languages by the AI community and has garnered critical acclaim for its innovative use of AI to create a unique and engaging story.
"We are excited to be partnering with Kris and bringing Zarya of the Dawn to screens around the world," said Conrad Curtis, the CEO of VPP. "This graphic novel is a paradigm shifting work that resonates strongly with our mission of using emerging technology to elevate the next generation of storytellers."
VPP plans to adapt Zarya of the Dawn as a virtual production, using cutting-edge technology to bring the story to life.
